Essential drugs used in prosthetic dentistry

Pharmacology is the branch of medicine and biology concerned with the study of drugs. The two primary areas of concern are the effects of drugs on biological system and how biological system affects the effectiveness and metabolism of drugs. As a dental specialty, Prosthodontics deals with patients of all ages, especially geriatric population, emphasizing the need for understanding the local and systemic effects as well as the adverse effects of drugs. The aim of this article was to provide necessary information about the common drugs used in prosthodontics, which is crucial while prescribing medications in a more knowledgeable way. Hence in this article a brief review of various drugs that are used in complete, partial, fixed, and implant prosthetic dentistry are mentioned.
